Sunday Brunching

Weekends are for lounging, enjoying coffee on the couch while catching up on my DVR recordings, and getting things done around the house. I love having a clean house to start the week. This past Sunday was out of the ordinary and I broke the weekend routine and went to brunch, with my friend Kate, at Maialina Pizzeria Napoletana. Maialina is our favorite restaurant here in Moscow, and I think in my top 5 restaurants anywhere. They recently started serving brunch and we had to try it. Maialina has amazing food with local and regional ingredients and the cutest decor. It is always my top pick for date night or when people come in town to visit us.

Kate is super fun and we share a major love for food. We breezed through a thousand topics all while splitting a sweet and a savory dish, best of both worlds! The pizza had eggs, arugula and prosciutto with a perfectly charred crust. The sweet dish was an olive oil cake with a sweetened mascarpone cream and seasonal fruit. I am salivating as I think about it, it was perfection.

…and who can have brunch without a drink.. am I right? I had their take on a mimosa but it was on another level. It was like a creamsicle; sweet, fresh, creamy and was rimmed with a vanilla sugar. It couldn’t have been any better.

To top it off it was raining outside and we were sitting by the window. It was so cozy and made for a perfect Sunday afternoon.
