Anyone else love green tea ice cream? I do!
Well you’re in for a treat if you love them as much as I do. This Matcha Latte recipe tastes just like green tea ice cream and can be enjoyed hot on those cold winter days (or rainy like we’re experiencing here lately) or iced for a refreshing pick me up.
Awhile back I decided to give Starbucks Green Tea Latte a try and I loved it, but since I work from home and am not making Starbucks runs on the regular I wanted to recreate my own recipe to make at home so I could enjoy it anytime I wanted. The secret ingredient I found that gives it the perfect sweetness is brown sugar. #gamechanger I tried the recipe at first with just honey and it ended up tasting like a plain old cup of green tea with milk in it which was good, but not what I was looking for. The brown sugar adds a depth and sweetness that perfectly compliments the matcha, honey and milk, which is all it takes to make the perfect Matcha Latte. The matcha powder is just ground green tea leaves, and provides a steady energy boost and added level of concentration. So no caffeine crash like after drinking a coffee or energy drink and none of those awful shakes or heart racing side effects like after too much coffee.
Money saving tip from my Mom (thanks Moms!). She told me that you can find the Matcha powder at Asian markets for way cheaper than what I paid at the local Co-Op. For example, for the same amount of matcha powder she paid $7 and I paid $19…
Hope you enjoy this Matcha Latte recipe if you give it a try. 🙂 I was able to make my Mom one while she was here visiting and she loved it!
Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte recipe that tastes like green tea ice cream.
Ingredients
In a 12-16 ounce glass or mug add the matcha powder and set aside. Boil water, once the water comes to a boil pull it off the heat and wait for the steam to stop to avoid burning the matcha, then pour 4 ounces of the water over the matcha powder. Give the matcha and water mixture a good stir until the matcha is fully dissolved and brewing. Add in the honey and brown sugar, stir until both are dissolved. Add in warmed milk for a hot Matcha Latte or add in cold milk and ice for an Iced Matcha Latte. Top with a splash of vanilla extract at the end if you’d like, stir and enjoy!Directions
